This worksheet was created by Church Facility Solutions, LLC (“CFS”) to lead your church through a process to estimate your future building size. Once you know the size of the building that you will need, you can plan for the correct land area or site size and you can also estimate the cost to construct such a new building.

The Building Chairman will set the tone for any building program, from pre-construction design through final construction and move-in. I would hesitate to say that the “absolute success” of a church building program rests solely on the shoulders of one man, but the building chairman may be “The Man”. The building chairman and the job that he does, clearly impacts the pastor’s quality of life.

These general rules of thumb will help elders, boards, and committees think through the general requirements of a real estate development project.

The process of expanding and developing a new church facility involves the collaboration of church leaders, church staff and congregant volunteers along with Development Advisors (“Advisors”) as the project leader. This document is intended as a guideline to select the most appropriate individuals to participate on the steering committee (“Committee”) for a proposed new ground-up church project.
