University Hills Baptist Church was thriving in the 1980’s and needed a larger auditorium. In 1987, the church decided to expand and constructed a 1,100 seat auditorium, classrooms and office space; relying on abundant (and free) parking directly west at the largely unoccupied former University Hills Shopping Center.

Stapleton Fellowship Church (SFC) had reached its maximum growth capacity at a interim school facility owned by Denver School of Science and Technology. With $4.9 million cash resources available (sale of previous property), SFC needed to procure its own facility to solidify growth and its position in the burgeoning community of Stapleton.
